TL;DR30-second take

Home visits bring physician-led care to your doorstep across the Greater Philadelphia area. Included with your Fishtown Medicine membership, they cover exams, blood draws, and IV therapy in your home or office. Members outside Philly can request travel-based visits.

Clinical Excellence, Delivered to Your Doorstep.

What does a Fishtown Medicine home visit include?

A Fishtown Medicine home visit covers most of what a traditional office visit covers, and often more. We bring physician-level care, lab work, and time to your front door, so you skip the I-676 traffic, the hunt for parking in Center City, and the waiting room full of sick patients.

For busy parents, working professionals, and anyone whose schedule is stretched thin, the trip to a clinic is often the hardest part of getting care.

Dr. Ash
"The most useful data comes from where you live. Seeing you at home shows me your lifestyle, your stress triggers, and how well you recover, the kinds of things a 15-minute office visit tends to miss."

How does a home visit work?

A home visit brings the clinical team and the tools to you. Seeing you where you live is a clinical advantage as much as a convenience.

1. Physician Evaluations

We provide thorough evaluations in the privacy of your home or office. This includes physical exams, metabolic assessments, and deep-dive strategy sessions.

  • Greater Philadelphia Metro: Included with your Fishtown Medicine membership at no extra charge.
  • Outside the Metro: We serve patients globally. For visits outside the Philly metro area, travel and lodging fees apply, or we can connect you to a trusted local expert at no extra cost.

2. Nursing and Phlebotomy

If your strategy requires blood draws, IV therapy, or specific nursing interventions, our clinical team comes to you. You will not need to visit a LabCorp or Quest unless you prefer it.

  • Precision Phlebotomy: Fasting labs feel easier when the phlebotomist is at your kitchen table at 7 a.m.
  • Efficiency: We handle the logistics so your day remains uninterrupted.

Why does Fishtown Medicine offer home visits?

Home visits are part of the standard membership because they take significant clinical time and resources, and the relationship-based model lets us afford that time. This keeps every visit unhurried, thorough, and private.

  • Total Discretion: The whole visit stays private. You skip the waiting room, your history remains between you and me, and your comings and goings stay discreet.
  • Contextual Care: We look at your environment (air quality, light hygiene, kitchen layout, sleep setup) while we are there with you.

Actionable Steps to Plan a Home Visit

Make the most of your visit.

  1. Book the Window: Choose a 60 to 90 minute block that does not conflict with meetings or family routines.
  2. Prep the Space: Clear a quiet area with good lighting for exams, labs, or imaging review.
  3. Have Records Ready: Upload any recent labs or specialist notes to the Ultralight app so we arrive with full context.
  4. Plan Around Fasting: For metabolic labs, we usually arrive in the morning so you can eat right after the draw.
  5. Walk Us Through Your Environment: Show us your bedroom, kitchen, and home office. We catch things an office visit tends to miss.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

No, there is no extra fee for each home visit. For members within the Greater Philadelphia Metro, home visits are included in your monthly membership. There is no per-visit charge.
If you are traveling or live outside Philly, we can still come to you. We frequently travel to see members across the country. In those cases, the member covers travel and lodging while we handle the logistical planning.
We can perform a wide range of diagnostics, blood work, and non-surgical interventions at home. For high-intensity procedures or advanced imaging (such as MRI or a Cleerly scan), we coordinate VIP fast-track access at the best facilities in the city, since those tools must stay on site.
Most home visits in the Greater Philadelphia area can be scheduled within 24 to 72 hours. Urgent clinical needs are prioritized. Routine longevity visits are usually planned a week or two in advance to fit your calendar.
We cover Fishtown, Northern Liberties, Old City, Society Hill, Queen Village, Rittenhouse, Fairmount, Bella Vista, Graduate Hospital, Brewerytown, East Falls, Manayunk, Chestnut Hill, and the Main Line. We also serve closer parts of New Jersey and Delaware on a case-by-case basis.
Yes, your whole family can be seen during one visit if every member is enrolled in the practice. We allocate enough time so each person gets a full evaluation rather than a rushed shared slot.
Yes, we bring portable equipment for a full physical: blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, otoscope, ophthalmoscope, ECG, ultrasound, and phlebotomy supplies. All of it travels in a single discreet kit, small enough to keep the visit low-key.
The home visit itself is part of your Direct Primary Care membership, so we do not bill it to insurance. Labs and imaging ordered during the visit can still go through your insurance when that saves you money.

Deep-Dive Questions

Environment-based care reveals what your office visit cannot: the cabinet snacks, the bedroom screens, the noise from a busy street, the stress of an ordinary workday. We catch root causes when we see them in context, which sharpens the clinical plan.
We maintain privacy through small, unbranded clinical kits, discreet vehicles, and trained staff who never discuss patients in public spaces. We schedule visits around your household so the visit stays low-key.
The limit is anything that requires fixed imaging or sterile surgical environments. Most diagnostics, lab work, point-of-care ultrasound, ECGs, IV therapy, and even minor in-office procedures translate well to a home setting. MRI, CT, mammography, and surgical procedures still require dedicated facilities.
A virtual visit handles roughly 70% of routine medical questions. A home visit handles the remaining 30% that needs hands-on examination, lab work, or environment assessment. We use both, deciding case by case which fits the clinical situation.
Yes, we support post-hospital recovery at home. After a hospital stay, we can do bedside evaluations, medication reconciliation, dressing changes, and care coordination with specialists at Penn, Jefferson, or Mainline. This often reduces readmissions and speeds recovery.
If an emergency develops during a visit, we stabilize, call EMS, and travel with the patient to the hospital when appropriate. We carry basic emergency tools and follow clear protocols. We are clear about our limits and never substitute for emergency care.
A typical member sees us in person 2 to 4 times a year for in-depth evaluations, with continuous messaging, video, and lab review in between. Visit frequency rises around major life events, transitions, or active treatment plans.
Yes, we can evaluate enrolled family members during a single visit. This works particularly well for new parents, busy households, or families coordinating shared health goals.
Home visits are HIPAA-compliant and safe. We follow the same privacy standards as in a clinic, with secure documentation and encrypted communication. Our clinical staff are trained, licensed, and credentialed to the same standard you would expect in any clinic.
A home visit fits Medicine 3.0 by extending the model from reactive episodes to proactive, environment-aware longevity care. Prevention works best where you sleep, eat, and work, so visiting that environment lets us shape your plan around your life rather than a checklist.
A small apartment or shared space is fine for most visits. We adapt the visit to whatever space you have, whether that is a Fishtown studio, a Rittenhouse condo, or a co-working office. All we need is a private, quiet spot for the exam.
Yes, home visits can include nutrition, sleep, and training assessments. We can review your fridge and pantry, look at your bedroom for light and noise hygiene, and watch your home gym setup. We connect those observations to lab data and wearables for a complete picture.
