Particle size (small vs. large LDL). Smaller particles do more damage to the artery wall, so the split has value in some situations. ApoB already carries most of that information, so we rarely need to order it on its own.
hsCRP. High-sensitivity C-reactive protein measures low-grade inflammation, and when it runs high your cardiovascular risk rises independent of your lipids. We include it in the panel we run.
Homocysteine. A modest independent risk factor, and one that B vitamins can treat, so we add it when the rest of your picture makes it useful.
